Book Sale!

Sometimes things just work out. I had to go to the library to return a book/ pick up another book that was ready for me when I notice that there is a sign pointing towards the library auditorium- "Book Sale". Heck yes! They do these book sales every once in awhile and since all the books are either old library books they are getting rid of or donations all they charge is a 'donation'. My donation was rather small since I wasn't ready for the sale. I was almost late to work but I walked away with a few gems.

1. How to Write Letters for all Occasions (1947)
2. Vanity Fair (1960)
3. Hip Hoptionary - how could I say no to that?! (2002)
4. Treasure Island/Captains Courageous (1948)
5. The Victor Book of the Opera (1938)

Epic win.  This week is looking up.

My new (fake) BF.

I don't ask for much. I just want a guy who is cute, funny, smart, and has good taste in music/movies/books. He needs to be a man (I am not in the mood to babysit) but he also needs to not be a jerk. Until this magical man comes along I made myself I little BF to travel with me.

Actually at work we are doing a contest with the new Gnomeo and Juliet movie coming out. Basically you paint a gnome and then go take pictures of it and upload them to facebook. It is like Amelie and goodness knows how much I love that movie.

I just had to make one, they are so damn cute!

And yes mine ended up being quite the little hipster. Plaid? Check. Facial hair? Check. Tattoos? Check. Listens to The Current? Double check.
His hands say 'Hold Fast'. Like my mug. Can't seem to get certain images out of my head.
His messenger bag is the same color as my 'Current' tote bag so I added the 89.3 so he could represent.
Do you think airport security will make a fuss about him? I want to take him to AZ next week and perhaps even to the Atmosphere concert after that! Ha. I just wish my life was a hipster version of Amelie. Is that so much to ask?

Catching up/losing track

What a crap-tastic week. Sheesh. Weekend was super long only made worse by being canceled on by someone I didn't even really want to hang out with. (What do you WANT FROM ME?! Either make your intentions crystal clear or never talk to me again, thank you.)

Work sucked. And for a job that is supposed to be all rainbows and butterflies after my last job I feel like I shouldn't have to be so stressed. Blah.

SO! Did ya'll watch the Super Bowl? I did. I was invited to a friends house for a party. I went for the food. And to watch the ads. (Particularly the movie ads.)

But I contributed as well. I made some taco dip and some a-dor-able dipped strawberries. Got the idea from a local grocery ad.

Cute right? Well I think so and they were super delish.

Now I was excited to watch the Super Bowl for one reason- CAPTAIN AMERICA. I hoped to see some other good movie-previews but Captain America was the one I was really looking forward to.

It looks awesome. Though I guess I can't really say seeing as I am not a comic book nerd. No I am a comic book MOVIE nerd. Big difference. So although I don't have the largest range of reference for this movie I do know that:
1. Chris Evans is hot
2. It is set in the 40s (!)
3. It is a super-hero movie

I really can't find a negative here. I think the funniest thing about the trailer is that they had to CGI the shit out of Evans to make him look like a weakling (and he looks super creepy) and it is his normal self that comes out all transformed and muscle-y and sexy....

In other hunk-super hero news did you hear that Henry Cavill has been cast as the new Superman? Yes! Thank you movie producers, thank you.
